These two hold a very special place in my heart. Nate, is one of my husband’s first cousins, and like a brother to us. We were so excited when he introduced us, almost 2 years ago, to the love of his life. Nate and Jessica met in high school, but were acquaintances only. I love how social networking brings people together. Over 10 years later, Jessica found Nate on Facebook and wrote him. At first he couldn’t remember her, but then realized who she was. They quickly started dating. We are so excited to welcome Jessica to our family and can’t wait for their May wedding. Not only were they engaged last year, but Nate passed the Bar exam. Yay! We can’t wait to see you both start your lives together. We love you guys.

It was such a pleasure to be part of Ann and Tim’s wedding celebration. They are such a sweet couple and have been so fun to get to know. I first met them at a church gathering, where their friend Jen introduced us. I’m so glad she did. During their engagement session, it took them awhile to warm up to the camera, but once they did we had the best time. I saw the playful side in them, and how gentle and loving they are to each other. If you’d like to view their engagement photos, click here.

They first met at a church function called the “Turkey Bowl” finally setting up their first date at Cheesecake Factory at the Americana in Glendale. It was right by Ann’s old apartment and late at night, afterwards they walked around the huge fountain and park they have inside. This was the beginning of their forever. When I asked Ann what their favorite date nights consisted of, she said this, “Mine would be staying in for a cozy, intimate dinner (made by him of course) followed by watching a movie and/or checking out a restaurant in the city followed by watching a play at a theater nearby (went to Bottega Louie and Pantages for my birthday).. his would be the opposite (minus the eating).. he has taken me to go-cart racing, the batting cages and shooting ranges (a bit more adventurous which I enjoy as much as he enjoys our nights in or at the theater - i can only hope/assume)”.

Ann, you took my breath away when I saw you in your dress. You are beautiful inside and out. Tim, you are such a gentleman with a heart of gold. I wish you both all the best on your new adventure as husband and wife.

I’ve been a busy girl launching a new brand, a new business and working alongside and partnering up with the awesome Mia Johnstone.  Yes, we have the same name, which is great, and we are moving all of our wedding business to our new joint venture,  (click here to see our new website) Sweet Mia Photography.

We decided to put together a bridal shoot with Mia J’s friend Molly and her husband of 5 years Aaron. They were so cute, in-love and great to photograph. We had the best time working together. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to stop by our Fan Page and new website.  We’d love the support.

The day was absolutely perfect to celebrate our beautiful cousin’s wedding and her soon to be husband.  You could tell that at every moment they were taking it all in, enjoying each other and the festivities.  David wrote a beautiful story that was included in the bulletin on how they met. Even if I was a prolific write, which I am not, his words are priceless and from the heart. Enjoy their story!

“I suppose the short answer is that we met online through eHarmony, but that doesn’t even being to tell the whole story. The truthful answer is simply this…God did it!

Some of you may know that I was widowed in March 2009. It didn’t take very long for me to realize I was not very good at being alone, so i signed up for eHarmony later that year.

Erin and I were “matched” in April 2010, but, although I was very attracted to her from what she shared in her profile, the distance made me hesitant to contact her. Thankfully she chose to contact me, which was we believe, God at work, since she hardly ever initiated contact. Knowing she was interest was all it took to allay any worries about the distance.

We began emailing and getting to know each other. After a while we started talking on the phone, sharing more of our stories with each other. Erin also shared with me that another gentleman was communicating with her. I really wasn’t surprised because I had already come to realize how special a lady she is.

I was trying to figure out a way to come see her when she told me the other fellow had already made arrangements to fly out. This was how she had asked God to lead her in deciding between the two of us, by which one made the first move. After repeatedly kicking myself for being too slow, I wrote her that it did seem like God had given her His direction, and that I wished her all the best. That was the beginning of July.

I will fast forward to August 26. I got an email from Erin which told me the other gentleman had broken off the relationship because of the distance a week before she was to fly out to NC to visit him. The funny thing is he lived in Raleigh! So, since it was too late to change her ticket she made plans to drive down to Charlotte to visit a former student of hers and contacted me to ask if I’d like to meet. My reaction was to ask the Lord “God, are you kidding me?! THANK YOU!” then to call Erin and tell her I would LOVE to see her.

We spent two days together over the Labor Day weekend. I think we both knew by the end of the first day that the search for our soul mate was over. To borrow a cliche’, the rest is history.

Solomon asks in Proverbs 31 “An excellent wife who can find?” He then lists the attributes of his ideal woman, but doesn’t name one even though Scripture records he had 300 wives. I don’t pretend to have any wisdom compared to Solomon, but I do know the answer to his question through experience. God is the one who can find an excellent wife. He has been gracious enough to do that for me twice, and I am forever grateful to Him.

Erin is truly a gift from God, as anyone who knows her can attest. She is my best friend, my lady, my love, and from this day forward, my beloved wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is my privilege, honor, and joy to become her husband!”

Erin made this dress as her project at Master’s college as a Home Economics major. It took her almost 4 years to complete her dress, with hundreds of hours invested. In her words, “It’s a combination of two patterns and the Alcon lace overlays are entirely hand beaded with a variety of pearls and crystals.”

When I met Keith, Julie and their daughter 10 months ago, I was struck at how down to earth they were and how relaxed and easy going Julie seemed about her wedding day. We had a great first meeting and I was counting the days until their wedding. She had been a hair client of my best friend Jen for many years and she had referred Julie to me. Jen did her hair and it looked absolutely amazing.

It was a perfect summer afternoon. The sun was shining, the breeze blowing and a wedding was about to take place.  The Newland Barn was the perfect setting for this beautiful couple and their closest friends and family.  Their daughter, almost 3 years old, was ready for her big moment as she sat twirling around in her purple skirt. Thank you both for letting me capture your wedding.  Many blessings to you, your family and to your new marriage.

It’s funny to see the faces of people when I tell them about a “Trash the Dress” photo shoot.  Most people have never heard of this, and can’t understand why you would want to trash your wedding dress. But, for newlyweds that want to get those super sexy pictures post wedding, it’s a great concept.  As part of the So Cal Photog ShootOut group I’ve had some amazing opportunities to build my portfolio, meet some cool people, connect, network and learn from others. As always, a big shout out goes to my friends Hanssie Trainor and Matthew Saville for organizing a spectacular event.  You guys rocked it this time!

There are many people to thank for this amazing shoot.

Here is the “Trash the Dress”.  The “Trash the Dress” session I picked was themed “Dirt”.  Although Lindsey didn’t get all that dirty, we used many “dirty” elements and props to help her out.
