Christy, owner of Simply Audrey, contacted me to do another fashion shoot for her website. She wanted to do an urban chic shoot, set up on a roof top. Her brother-in-law lives in Brentwood and gave us permission to use his condo to get the girls ready and shoot up on top of the building. Unfortunately, after a very short amount of time, we were told to get off the roof. Sometimes when you are faced with challenges, and one overcomes and adapts, the greatest results are manifested. We moved into his super modern condo, where we began shooting. We pulled together, moved our stuff back into the condo, and finished up the shoot. He had this one empty room upstairs that ended up working like a studio, with the white walls. Thank you Ernesto for allowing us to use your space and being such an incredible host. Thank you to Beautiful Faces by Denise for helping us out once again and making the girls look amazing. Hailey and Tomi, you did an amazing job and looked stunning in all the looks. They are both dance teachers at Impact Dance Studios in Los Alamitos. Christy’s daughter has been attending their studio and she loves it. I’m excited to enroll my little one soon.

Mary and I have known each other now for 14 years. We met through our husbands many years ago. We’ve both seen our hobbies evolve into businesses, and have also watched our families grow. When we started talking about her amazing, custom, handmade beanies, and getting some pictures done I knew it would be a fun project. MairWear is Mary’s business, and her hand knitted beanies are amazing. I can’t wait for winter so I can wear mine and see my girls in them. We decided to run a contest and choose two families to wear these amazing creations. It’s a win, win. The families won pictures and they were able to pick out their favorite hat to wear.  Thank you everyone for being involved and making this happen. A special thanks to Brianne, with {Bre} Style who did all the set designs and displays for the hats. You were amazing!

Look at all these cute beanie clips, or could double as a hair clip. I love them. They come in small, medium and large.

Little boy hats. So cute!

I love the variety of men’s hats. They are so awesome.

Little girl hats. They are just perfect.

Here’s Brianne’s little girl. She has the perfect hair for hats, so I had to take a few pictures of her wearing them.

Our first family. I’ve known Suzanna since college. We met at school in Pennsylvania. They moved to California last year, and this is the first time we’ve seen each other since she moved. It was a pleasure shooting their family.

Here’s our second family. Mary and Krista went to college together too!

Christy, owner and creator of Simply Audrey contacted me about helping her with a shoot. She recently launched her on-line clothing boutique and wanted to use models for a lifestyle type shoot. It was so fun collaborating with her. Her clothes are so fun, chic, and fresh. I love the look and how wearable they all are. Denise, the make-up artist, did an amazing job on Hannah. It almost looked porcelain like, and she was able to see the clothes and pick the perfect colors to compliment each outfit. I can’t forget Hannah. She recently graduated from High School, and has never modeled before. We all thought she did so amazing. A special shout out to my assistant and friend for the shoot, Nicole. She helped me so much and I couldn’t have done it without her.

Denise, you did such a beautiful job on the make-up. That coral pink lipstick was the perfect color against the dark blue.

Last year, a young man walked into my ESL classroom, quiet and sweet, and sat in the back. After weeks of teaching him, I slowly began to get to know him, his story and why he was living in the United States. Enrique is a young man with a heart of gold and wants to serve God through music and worship. He’s a very talented musician that plays guitar, sings and writes all of his own songs. I was so excited when he called me  to help him with his project, his very first album. It’s amazing to see how God has provided for him every step of the way. He’s moved in faith, and has seen the money come in that he has needed to produce his first album.  Please become his FAN on FACEBOOK and support this up and coming artist.

Congratulations Enrique! You deserve the best, and I wish you well on this new journey. God Bless You!

It has been awhile since I had time to put a shoot together. The idea started when I was casually looking at InStyle magazine.  I saw a page that jumped out at me about fashion week and the 70′s inspired clothing. The day before the shoot the shutter on my 50D stopped working, so I had to rely on my trusty ole’ Rebel XT to do the trick. I’m thankful for back-up equipment, that’s for sure.

The stylist and make-up artist were so amazing. I loved the looks and how it all came together. The stylist came up with four different looks for the girls that blew me away.

I remember the feelings I had walking up to campus my first day at Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. The feelings were mixed as I felt excited yet a little awkward as a transfer student, entering my Junior year, and not knowing a soul.  Soon, through the crowd of Freshman mixers, I found my way to those in my year, and made some friends. This became even more challenging as I was one of the few students to be living off campus. Most of the students lived in the dorms.  Some of my closest friends were in the same dorm, and the dorm Mom was Sandi. The entire family lived in the dorm, in a separate apartment.  Like me, they were from California, and we instantly clicked, and they adopted me as their dorm daughter.  Their girls were very young at the time, but as you can see in the photos they have grown up to be not only amazing Christian women, but so incredibly beautiful.  I love this family, and I love it even more that they moved back to California and only live about 30 minutes away.  This family is full of life, energy and spunk. Their energy was contagious and I had a great time shooting them.

Sandi and Nick, you’ve still got it!

Meet Nicole (These two are so close. I adore their sisterly bond.)

Meet Ashley

This set makes me smile, the connection the three of them have is awesome.

I shared a story with Nick that my pastor had shared that week, about weeping at a wedding as he thought of his own daughters’ walking down the aisle.  Let’s just say, Nick held his daughters just a little tighter and really got into the shoot once I shared that story.

Hot, hot, hot!

We had a visitor.

I couldn’t think of a better thing to do after our delicious Thanksgiving meal, than to take a walk with our cousins.  Especially since the dinner we eat at 1:00, is followed by pie and coffee at 4:00, and then the sandwiches and dip busted out around 7:00. It’s an eating frenzy the entire day, but so good. Thankfully Thanksgiving is only once a year.  Jeff’s cousin Nate, and his beautiful girlfriend Jessica, wanted a Christmas picture to send out with their Christmas cards this year, so I brought my camera along to take a few pictures of them. They are both absolutely gorgeous, easy going and easy to photograph.  I can’t wait to get my card in the mail.  :)

Many years ago, when I was attending college in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania I met Carla. Coming from California, I felt a little out of place in Northeastern, PA…but when I met Carla and found out she too was from Cali we instantly had a connection. Cleaning houses was one of the many jobs I had during those two years, and I had always looked forward to going over to Carla’s home.  The first 30 minutes to 1 hour we spent talking over 1 or 2 cups of hot tea.  She would share with me the challenges of raising teenage girls, and I shared with her about my family, school, and new found love. I’d finally look at the time, and knew I had to get started, but never wanted to stop chatting with her.  We always had the best conversations and built a special friendship through those two years.

It was the summer before my senior year of college that I met Jeff.  He flew out with me before I started school to get a feeling of where I lived before we endured 1 long year of long distance. He had one year left of his Master’s and it was probably a good thing we were long distance through our last years of school. :)

On October 31st, 1997 I got the biggest surprise of my life.  I was cleaning one of the upstairs bathrooms, yellow gloves on and all when Carla called for me quickly. As I approached the top of the stairs I saw Jeff at the front door. I honestly almost passed out, sat down at the top of the stairs because I felt so dizzy and immediately put my head down to my knees. I thought I was dreaming.  He had called Carla the week before to arrange everything.  I had no idea what would come next.

Carla immediately told me to get out of there, that I was free to go. We rushed to my house so I could change clothes and we were headed to the most beautiful State park which we had visited together back in August.  This is where he proposed.  He sang me a song that he had wrote, got down on one knee, and took out a shiny rock!  I was shocked. We had only dated about 4 months, but I already knew in my heart that I wanted to marry him. As he patiently awaited my answer, I finally said “YES” with a big hug and kiss. He had hoped I would be a crier, but I honestly was still in shock from the surprise at Carla’s house to the proposal. I was so excited!

Well, Carla moved back to California about 6 years ago. It’s been fun to have her close by, although we don’t get to see each other enough.  I had the privilege of seeing her oldest daughter married a few years back, and visited her in Del Mar. She’s now a licensed “Life Coach” and is starting her business. She contacted me needing some head shots, and I was excited to help her out. I can’t share with you all the details of her business venture, but it’s going to be GOOD.  Contact her at cbeachcoaching@aol.com if you are in need of a Life Coach. She’s fantastic.
